Here’s a small sampling of the huge swath of newspaper ads I’ve designed so far. Each client’s ad obviously required their own unique approach. Most of the times, text was given, and the rest left up to me. Some were more specific in their requirements, others let me – as they put it – “be creative.”

Overall, I’d say the biggest challenge usually with print ads for newspapers is the client’s tendency to want to put as much information as possible into the space they’re paying for, and understandably so. However, design-wise the issue then becomes in how to find that balance between content overflow, visual hierarchy, and ease of reading.
